What’s the difference between Messages and email?

Messages and email are two ways to talk with Path. They often share the same conversation behind the scenes.

Messages

  • Lives in the Path dashboard at Messages
  • Best when you’re already signed in and want the full thread history in one place
  • Unread count shows on the chat icon in the top bar
  • You start threads with New message and continue them with Reply
  • Optional desktop notifications alert you on this computer

Email

  • Uses your inbox and Path’s address (hello@pathedits.com)
  • Best when you’re away from the dashboard or prefer mail
  • Order, quote, and delivery mail still comes by email as usual
  • Replying to a Path support email keeps the discussion on that thread

Same thread, two channels

In Messages, each line shows a badge:

Badge Meaning
Message Sent or received in the dashboard (or another non-email channel)
Email Sent or received by email

You can open a thread in Messages and still get email copies when Email notifications is on for that thread. Turn the switch off to follow only in the dashboard. See How do I turn email notifications on or off for a message thread?.

Other ways to contact Path

The Help Centre contact form and Ask Path AI are separate from Messages. See How can I contact Path support?.
