Two-factor authentication is optional on Path customer accounts. When you turn it on, Path emails a confirmation code each time you sign in with your password.
You can also add a passkey (Face ID, Touch ID, Windows Hello, or a security key). A passkey signs you in without the password and without the email code.
Turn email two-factor authentication on or off
- Sign in
- Open My account → Security
- Under Two-factor authentication, use the switch to turn it on or off
When it’s on, password sign-in always asks for the emailed code. When it’s off, email and password alone are enough.
Sign in with your password when two-factor is on
- Open Sign in
- Enter your email address and choose Continue
- Enter your password and choose Sign in
- Open the email Your Path verification code
- On Check your email for a code, enter the confirmation code and choose Verify and continue
Skip the code with a passkey
If you already have a passkey, Sign in offers Sign in with passkey after you enter your email. That skips both the password and the email code.
Use password instead follows your two-factor setting: with email two-factor on, Path still emails a code.
See How do I add or manage passkeys?.
If the code doesn’t arrive
- Check spam or junk for Your Path verification code. It is sent to the email on your Path account.
- The code expires in 30 minutes.
- Resend confirmation code becomes available after about 30 seconds. A new code replaces the previous one — use the latest email.
- An incorrect code shows Incorrect confirmation code. Re-check the latest email and try again.
- From that screen you can also choose Reset your password.
Don’t share the code. If you didn’t try to sign in, you can ignore the email.
